Guys,
as AVSIM site has been hacked, there is no more way to download Super Flight Planner - at least until when and if they repair the damage - however SFP 4.0.5 is also available on flightsim.com. Note that you have to create an account and login to access the file library and that a Subscription membership is applied there so that you might have to wait a bit to log-in as subscribing members are favorited. I'll also look for other sites next week. |

Wondering where I was? A little bit busy with my job, however I have also worked to Super Flight Planner 5 (the new project). That's to say that Super Flight Planner version 4 is now officially closed and I will cease updating... |

I have decided to delay new SFP release a few days (please allow to 3 or 4 weeks maximum). This is due to a new feature I'm starting to implement but which is very important for fuel saving, that's the constant computing of optimal altitude during a FSUIPC session (you may use it in order to know when it's time for a step climb). For each aircraft, the user can define a climb step profile and SFP will interpolate optimal and maximum flight level from it.
That will take some day more to implement but will add the chance to optimize the fuel consumption expecially when used in couple with the already existing fuel predictor.
Cheers to all meantime... |

Merry Christmas and Happy 2009 to every body.
Upcoming new year will see another Super Flight Planner release. Right now there are quite some bugfix and a couple of new features
- Fixed: Database Wizard Hanging, it now works again as it should. Note that this is the last SFP release importing fixes and routes from Flight Simulator. I will switch to AIRAC cysles after this.
- Fixed: Super Flight Planner not being given focus by Windows after running the Route Wizard. Program apparently seemed frozen after this even though it was not.
- Added: flight track hystory displayed on moving map. Like a flight recorder, anytime the plane moves, it's being recorded, since takeoff to landing. You can switch display on or off if you don't wish to see it.
- Added: you may switch off/on flight plan display on moving map, if you don't wish to see while inflight. While planning, you better turn it on!
- Added: you may switch on/off circles plotted around the plane symbol.
More fixes and/or additions will be added depending on time left to release |

Hi great people,
the forum and mail as of these days are focusing mostly on two problems: infinite loops during fixes and routes scanning and a missing cc3260.dll while exporting FS9 flight plans. Therefore let me tell you here what to do, since the thread is soo generic. [ click on read more...] |

I have released Super Flight Planner 4 RC5. You can download it from the download section and I'm also uploading it to avsim now (for those who prefer to download it from there). You can find this release's changes in the notes.html file you can display after installation. And, as always, technical support is available in the forum. Enjoy. |

I have uploaded a prebuild database for Super Flight Planner 4 RC4 on avsim.com. It should be available in a few hours.
Users who have troubles running SFP4 Database Wizard may use temporarily, until I find out something more.
Just go to avsim.com and look for sfp_fsx_accel.zip |

The IPC User Guide for SFP4 is now available in the SFP DOCS blog (you can easily access it using the Blog Latest Entries on Web Page left side (or, click here ). Sorry for delay but I had to reinstall the whole Operating System from scratch on my PC and it took some time.
Cheers, Alex. |

I have released Super Flight Planner 4, RC 4. Please find it in the download section, or go to avsim.com (if it's not online yet, wait a few hours). Unfortunately I'm very tired, I've been working all day to prepare the distro and I'm not willing to finish documentation about new IPC now: please wait tomorrow or after tomorrow.
Just one useful info: SFP is able to fly the current plan loaded in Flight Simulator (instead of writing routines to build my own GPS I tune the autopilot heading value to GPS Course to Steer as returned from FS: it's simpler and ensures you never go off-route with consequent ATC intervention as it's the case with 3rd party add-ons using theit own means). To enable auto-fly, turn on the IPC monitor and check the autofly field (you can find it by pressing the Assist button). Later on, enable autopilot in FS (press Z) and turn on heading hold. This will alow SFP to drive the aircraft using FS GPS Data.
Expect other info over the next few days.

I'm pleased to announce that latest Super Flight Planner 4 release will be available starting Sunday Night (GMT +2). It's been a long time of testing and hard coding; beware it still has bugs and limitations left, which will be detailed in the hystory file. I'll write down some kind of docs about the new IPC system tomorrow (despite the bugs left this is now the most robust code section and you absolutely have to experience it), and then release. Also be aware that there will be very few updates to SFP 4 family from now on, just because I've started to write Super Flight Planner 5: this features a complete code rewrite, with porting from Object Pascal to C/C++ - the good new is that I can rely on a very robust and performant foundation library and C is my primary language... Here is a few details of the new features that will be available and which I'm already working on: - Powered by Microsoft Virtual Earth. All the power of Virtual Earth available, including 3D views.
- New flight plan engine with auto computed airways and/or direct-to flight plans
- Climb steps profile
- Realistic aircraft support, with importing from FS planes included: this works through a gauge which when activated into an aircraft, logs all the parameters to a log file and then extrapolate the contents to an aircraft data file ready for use with SFP.
- NAT and PACOTS support: this is also currently in progress with SFP 4
- AI Traffic display on the MS Virtual Earth Map: this is also in progress with SFP 4
- Full X-Plane support, if possible with IPC link
As we may see, there are already several foundaments to produce the Flight Planner of the future. Meantime I will keep to maintain SFP4, although not as often as before. Ciao, Alex. |
